Along the river llz – often referred to as „the black pearl“ – The Ilz has its source in the Bavarian mountains. Its brownish color is a result of the high amount of organic materials and sediments.
Ilz, „die schwarze Perle“ – An der Wolfsteiner Ohe, einem Nebenfluss der Ilz. Die Buchberger Leite gilt als die schönste Wildbachklamm im Bayerischen Wald. Ja, Marie! Ich habe meinem Mann gesagt: „Ich fühle mich wie ein Menschenaffe vor Millionen von Jahren“…Irgendwie sind wir ja wohl in solch einer Umgebung entstanden (…?) Jedenfalls ist es wunderschön!

I see what you mean about reminding you of the Yuba river, the colors in our river is because of the rich minerals, surrounding rocks and of course where gold was mined back during the gold rush days. Beautiful photos by the way!

Thank you, Margaret. This is another demonstration of the fact that wild nature is wonderful everywhere. Unfortunately in Europe we don´t have as many vast landscapes as in the US but in some areas nature is still preserved thanks to nature protection programs…
