EN: Lately I hiked with a friend across the hills near Bad Griesbach. The view opened wide over almost geometric fields of blooming rapeseed and dark forest edges, across which a wandering shadow moved. A red kite circled above us, drawing slow arcs into the sky.
EN: Here I have depicted Eleanor of Aquitaine, the remarkable woman who in the 12th century was first Queen of France and later Queen of England. Known as the ‘Queen of the Troubadours,’ she remains one of the most fascinating and influential figures of the Middle Ages.”

And because it was so lovely painting outdoors in the traditional orchard last time, I did it again today — this time with a view of the Bruder Konrad Chapel. In the sunshine, surrounded by birdsong.
